Prescription Medication Policy

At Valley Farm we comply with legal requirements. This means that a prescription is required for all schedule 3+ chronic medication.
Most drug prescriptions are repeatable for up to 6 months, at the discretion of the veterinarian, after which time a patient check-up may be required prior to the provision of another script.

This allows us to manage your pet’s medical condition by improving records and making any required therapeutic changes. We can also manage unwanted side effects.
For us to prescribe or dispense a medication your pet must have been seen by a veterinarian. We can dispense medication on a prescription from another veterinary practice.

Over-the-counter sales of medication

Please note that by law we are not allowed to sell any schedule 3+ medication over the counter without a prescription.
A prescription from another veterinarian will only be accepted for up to 6 months from the date of first issue.
If you do not have a prescription one of our veterinarians will need to examine your pet before we can dispense medication.
