Acupuncture is a complementary medicine which involves inserting fine needles into the body at certain points. This is done to manipulate the flow of energy within the body to treat many physical and mental conditions.
Dr Arpana Bhagwan has been trained in traditional Chinese acupuncture, and Western Acupuncture and chronic pain management, for animals.
Although acupuncture in animals is mostly used for the management of chronic pain, Dr Bhagwan is trained to use it in the treatment of a range of conditions.
Initial consultation assessment and treatment usually takes about an hour with follow-up treatments of around 30 minutes each. A course of acupuncture treatments is required for most conditions.
For chronic conditions such as chronic pain, and for allergic and inflammatory conditions, ongoing weekly treatments will be required.
Acupuncture is most often used as an adjunct to conventional Western medicine therapies.
Acupuncture appointments must be pre-booked with Dr Bhagwan Monday to Friday.
If you would like to make an appointment, or for more information about acupuncture for your pet, please contact Dr Bhagwan on 012 991 3573.
